Creating Tasks

Add tasks from anywhere in the app. Link them to clients, projects, or appointments.

From the Tasks page:

  1. Go to Tasks in the sidebar
  2. Click New Task or Add Task
  3. Fill in the details:
    • Task name (required) – What needs to be done
    • Description (optional) – Additional details
    • Status – To Do, In Progress, Done, or Cancelled
    • Due date (optional) – When it needs to be completed
    • Start date (optional) – When to begin
    • Client (optional) – Associate with a client
    • Project (optional) – Link to a specific project
    • Appointment (optional) – Link to an appointment
  4. Click Create Task

Quick task creation from other pages:

  • From a client profile: Click "Add Task" to create a task already linked to that client
  • From a project: Click "Add Task" to create a task linked to the project and its client
  • From an email: Click "Create Task" to make a follow-up task linked to that email

Yes! Linking tasks to projects helps keep related work organised.

When creating a task:

  1. Fill in the task details
  2. Find the Project dropdown
  3. Select the relevant project
  4. The task will appear both in your main task list AND on the project's page

To link an existing task:

  1. Open the task
  2. Click Edit
  3. Select a project from the dropdown
  4. Save changes

  • Track progress across multiple related tasks
  • Client is automatically associated through the project
  • Better organisation for complex multi-session pieces

Statuses and Due Dates

Track progress and stay on top of deadlines.

Status Meaning Use When
To Do Task hasn't been started You've identified something that needs doing but haven't begun
In Progress Currently working on it You've started the task but it's not finished
Done Task is complete Work is finished and verified
Cancelled Task won't be done Plans changed, task is no longer needed

To change a task's status:

  1. Open the task
  2. Click on the status dropdown
  3. Select the new status
  4. Changes save automatically

On your Dashboard:

  • Overdue tasks appear prominently at the top
  • They're displayed with a warning colour
  • The count of overdue tasks shows in your dashboard statistics

On the Tasks page:

  • Overdue tasks have an "Overdue" badge
  • They're typically sorted to appear first
  • The due date is highlighted

What makes a task overdue:

  • Status is "To Do" or "In Progress" (not Done or Cancelled)
  • Due date has passed (before today)

Tip: Check your dashboard daily to catch overdue tasks early.
